Tennis

With our three all-weather tennis courts, indoor sports hall and world class coaching team, the West Bay Country Club is the best place to learn the game, hone your skills or just have fun!

The Tennis Programme is led by Director, Andrew Fisher, who has coached 13 national champions including Junior Grand Slam Winner and current world number 39 - Heather Watson.

Tennis Coaching: We run a series of tennis coaching sessions for ages: under 8’s, under 10’s, over 11’s in the mornings, as well as for adults in the afternoon. These can be booked as individual session or as a course of three each week.
Tournament Friday: for under 8’s and over 9’s is the chance to put the practice to the test by competing in the end of week tournament which is free to anyone who has attended a weekly coaching session.
Adult social match play and club morning: This is a great opportunity to enjoy the game of tennis with like-minded people in a friendly and sociable environment. Whether you are decent club player or complete beginner, this is perfect for all abilities and experiences.
Adult Drills: This is a coach led session that works on a different area of the game each week. The coach runs a series of drills which are aimed to improve repeatability and consistency. As well as being good fun, this is a great workout.
Cardio Tennis: This class-based activity involves rapid movement, changes of direction and the use of ‘easier to hit’ low compression tennis balls. The aim is improve agility, hand/eye coordination and fitness. With Cardio Tennis you consistently elevate your heart rate into your aerobic training zone and your tennis game skills will naturally improve because in a session you will hit so many balls and repeat various shots.
Touch Tennis: Touch Tennis is played on smaller courts using foam balls and a 21 inch racket. A key aspect of the game is deft stroke play rather than power hitting so long but intense rallies, lots of action and a great workout are what Touch Tennis is all about.
